Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson is in line to sit out the forthcoming Leicester City clash with a knock, confirmed the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.
The 30-year-old midfield anchorman had sustained a back knock in Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth-round win against Championship outfit Cardiff City at Anfield over the weekend.
Jurgen Klopp in his pre-match remarks, reported by Liverpool’s official club website, ahead of Thursday’s showdown against Leicester City sounded out that Henderson will join the AFCON-winning Senegal winger Sadio Mane on the sidelines for the midweek contest.
“Hendo has a little bit [of a] back problem from the last game and Sadio is not here, but neither issue will be long term, so that’s good.”
Mane on the back of his country’s triumph in the AFCON was granted an extended break with the former Southampton man not in the mix to make the matchday squad for Liverpool as the second-placed Merseysiders gear up to host Leicester.
Mohamed Salah, meanwhile, has staged a return to training at the AXA facility following his involvement with Egypt in the AFCON where they came out second best to Sadio Mane and Co. in the final.
