The Liverpool FC midfielder has become a major source of interest from Ronald Koeman’s side over the past few weeks following the appointment of the Dutchman as the boss of the Camp Nou outfit. Koeman is planning a midfield revolution at the Spanish club after the exit of Ivan Rakitic and the soon to be confirmed departure of Arturo Vidal for Inter Milan, according to reports.

Wijnaldum, however, refused to divulge into any further details regarding a possible move for him to Spain ahead of next season when asked to comment upon the matter in a recent interview ahead of Holland’s UEFA Nations League game against Poland.

“That’s a rumour, I can’t say more about it,” said the ex-Newcastle United player.

Recent reports had suggested that the Dutch international had already agreed upon personal terms with FC Barcelona. The 29-year old was believed to have signed a three-year deal with the Catalan giants, despite Liverpool FC yet to reach upon a transfer fee consensus with Koeman’s side.

His potential Anfield exit is rumored to coincide with the Reds’ making a concrete approach for Thiago Alcantara ahead of the 2020-21 season. The Bayern Munich star remains Jurgen Klopp’s priority signing this summer, despite Manchester United too understood to be in the mix to sign the Spanish midfielder.
