Wantaway Liverpool FC midfield star Gini Wijnaldum, a target for FC Barcelona this summer, will reportedly hold talks with Jurgen Klopp over the situation concerning his future at Anfield ahead of the upcoming season.
The 29-year old returns to Melwood after taking part in the Dutch national team’s fixtures in the UEFA Nations League over the past fortnight. Wijnaldum was a regular fixture in the Oranje’s playing XI fielded by caretaker manager Dwight Lodeweges.
According to reports, the ex-Newcastle United man remains keen on extending his stay at Liverpool FC beyond this summer’s transfer window. However, there is no clarity shared by the club’s management whether to table a new deal for Wijnaldum, who becomes a free agent next summer.
And the midfielder is aware that he too needs to act quickly upon his contract situation at Anfield, with a prospective move to Ronald Koeman’s side being on the cards for him. The newly appointed manager of the Catalan giants is understood to be very keen on signing his former player as a part of his rebuilding process at the Camp Nou outfit.
