Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott has agreed upon a new contract at Anfield with the midfielder joining the growing list of players in the Reds fold to pen extended terms.
Elliott enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the Liverpool shirt last term in the opening stages of the season before a horrific injury in a league game against Leeds United left him sidelined for five months.
A statement from the club’s official website confirmed that Elliott had put pen to paper on a long-term extension with Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders ahead of the forthcoming Premier League game at home to Crystal Palace.
The 19-year-old Elliott could make the starting team sheet in the Palace showdown just days after his contract renewal with Klopp lacking quality options in midfield following a hamstring injury for the Liverpool maestro Thiago Alcantara.
Thiago’s injury leaves Klopp with only Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Elliott and James Milner as his senior midfield names while the likes of Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recover from their respective injury troubles.
