Liverpool starlet Fabio Carvalho has called it quits with Portugal’s Under-21 side amid rumours of him being close to returning to the England fold.
The young attacker has been impressive at Anfield since his switch from Fulham last summer and his showings on the pitch have been of much delight to the Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp who had been keen to bring him in.
He has represented England at the youth level, despite being born in Portugal, with Carvalho moving to South London in 2013 but was issued a call up for Portugal’s U21 European Championship qualifiers earlier in the year.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is hinted that the 20-year-old does not want to be considered for selection with the Selecao squad with no official reason given as of yet for Carvalho’s decision to withdraw.
Carvalho has netted twice in his 16 appearances so far for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders with his last minute winner against the high-flying Newcastle United after coming off the bench earning him praise.
