Liverpool starlet Sepp van den Berg rejoins Preston North End on loan for the 2021-22 season

Sepp van den Berg has signed for Championship side Preston North End once again in a loan deal which will mean the Dutch youngster becomes Liverpool’s first player to leave Anfield in this summer’s window.

Reports from the club’s official website confirm Sepp van den Berg’s return to Preston for the duration of the forthcoming campaign.

The teenage defender had been backed to rejoin Preston again this summer

Van den Berg had signed for the Championship side in the January window in a deal that had also seen Ben Davies move to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp sought defensive reinforcement in light of the injury crisis.

The Holland teenager featured in 16 outings for Preston last season where had spent the second half of the campaign on a short-term loan agreement and had been tipped to move away from Anfield once again this summer to re-sign for The Lilywhites.

Liverpool remain in the market for a new centre-back signing

Having already added the highly-rated Ibrahim Konate to the Anfield camp, Klopp is still on the hunt for another central defender this summer with Atalanta’s Christian Romero his likely target.

The Reds are tipped to challenge arch-rivals Manchester United for the player’s signature despite the Red Devils having lodged an opening bid for the 23-year-old Argentina international.
