A cash-strapped FC Barcelona outfit still owe Liverpool £11 in transfer fees for landing the then Anfield hero Philippe Coutinho in a mega-money move.
The Brazil international had left Merseyside to sign for the La Liga heavyweights in a deal that set them back by £142 million as the Liverpool star attacker signed a long-term deal at Camp Nou.
Reports from The Daily Express, however, have now claimed that the Spanish club, whose concerns on the financial front in the recent past have been well-documented, owe £98 million in transfer fees to clubs for deals concluded long ago.
Liverpool are in line to collect a sizable £11 million from FC Barcelona, according to the report, with the payment for Coutinho’s sale still not paid in full to the Anfield giants.
Coutinho, despite his high-profile transfer to Spain, has witnessed a downward spiral in his career with the Brazilian right on the fringes at FC Barcelona amid rumours of a return to the Premier League with Arsenal and Everton interested in his services.
