Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have been handed a major setback on the transfer front with long-term target Harvey Barnes in line to sign a new long-term deal at the King Power Stadium.
Barnes had emerged as one of the top names on Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list for this summer’s transfer window on the back of his fine run of showings for Leicester City in the Premier League last term.
With the Reds on the hunt for attacking reinforcements this summer, Klopp had zeroed in on the Leicester City wide man as his ideal target but will need to look elsewhere with Barnes set to agree upon extended terms with the Foxes.
Reports from The Atheltic suggest that Brendan Rodger is keen to tie down his star forward to a new long-term contract and ward off interest from other clubs in the player by offering him a major wage bump.
Liverpool have looked at other attacking names as well over the course of this summer window with Wolves man Adama Traore being one such player who has courted attention from the Anfield camp.
