Liverpool table £27 million worth opening offer for Perr Schuurs

The Merseysiders have launched an opening offer in the region of £27 million for the highly-rated Ajax centre-back Perr Schuurs, according to reports from the Liverpool Echo.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has been massively hit with a number of injury setbacks to crucial first-team defensive stars in Van Dijk and Gomez, leaving the Liverpool FC boss with only Joel Matip as the fully fit senior option in the central defender role.

Klopp had not been ruled out from dipping in the transfer market during January’s window to sign a new centre-back, and reports now indicate that Perr Schuurs may be the player that the Merseyside Reds have hunted down to resolve their ongoing injury crisis.

A fee equalling £30 million is understood to be tabled by the Premier League champions with the hopes of convincing Ajax to part ways with the 21-year-old Dutchman.

Despite Fabinho having played at the heart of the Liverpool FC backline in recent weeks following Van Dijk’s season-ending injury, the Brazillian is still better suited to turn out in the midfield three rather than be employed as a centre-back.
