Jurgen Klopp might have found his Gini Wijnaldum replacement in Lorenzo Pellegrini with reports indicating that Liverpool have lodged an offer for the Roma midfield maestro by triggering his release clause.
The Reds have been on the hunt for midfield reinforcements after Wijanldum said his goodbyes on the final day of this past season and his move away from Anfield is imminent with Paris Saint-Germain the frontrunners.
Despite earlier speculation that Liverpool would see off this transfer window without bringing in a player to fill the void left by Wijnaldum, it seems as if Klopp has caved in to the pressure created by the supporters of the club to make his second signing of the summer.
Reports from TeamTalk claim that the Merseysiders have tabled an offer worth £25.8 million for the Roma man Pellegrini which will activate his release clause and allow Liverpool to enter into talks with the Italy international.
Pellegrini is now into his final year of contract with Roma and the Serie A side are unlikely to stand in the player’s potential move to Anfield with the risk running high of losing out on him for free next summer.
