Liverpool Target Alexis Mac Allister Set To Join Reds In Pre-Season Campaign

According to the Express, Liverpool has reportedly reached an agreement to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The World Cup winner is expected to arrive on Merseyside well ahead of pre-season, as Jurgen Klopp aims to bolster his midfield options for the next campaign.

Mac Allister has showcased his immense talent as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young midfielders, impressing with his performances throughout the season. Despite Brighton’s strong squad, the Argentine has stood out as a standout player under Roberto De Zerbi.

While several top Premier League clubs have shown interest in Mac Allister, Liverpool has made significant progress in recent days. A full agreement has been reached between the parties, and the player is set to sign with the Reds.

The deal could be advantageous for both sides, with Liverpool prepared to pay a substantial fee of around £70 million for Mac Allister’s signature.

His arrival would mark the beginning of Liverpool’s summer recruitment drive. Given the confirmed departures at the end of the season, midfield was always expected to be a priority area for reinforcement, and the addition of the Brighton star is likely to be accompanied by other new signings.

Liverpool reportedly withdrew from the race to sign Jude Bellingham to allocate their resources toward multiple midfield signings. Therefore, Mac Allister’s fee will consume a significant portion of their budget, potentially prompting Klopp and the team to explore cheaper options in the market.

One potential target is Youssouf Fofana from Monaco, who is believed to be available for just £22 million. Additionally, with Mason Mount nearing the final year of his Chelsea contract, Klopp may see an opportunity to strike a value-for-money deal for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Mac Allister has showcased his versatility at Brighton, contributing 10 goals in the Premier League this season while also displaying his skills as an attacker and defender.

The Seagulls will make a substantial profit from Mac Allister, whom they acquired from Argentinos Juniors in 2019 for approximately £7 million.

He became a regular starter last season and played a key role in Argentina’s remarkable victory in the 2022 World Cup.
