Christoph Baumgartner is one name that has gathered interest from Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool of late with the Austrian playmaker displaying a great run of form at the ongoing UEFA European Championships.
With the Reds in the transfer market for a new midfield player to fill the void left by the long-serving Gini Wijnaldum, speculation linking Baumgartner with a switch to Anfield this summer has gained ground.
The 21-year-old was a solid performer for Hoffenheim last season as he chipped in with six goals and three assists over the course of the Bundesliga campaign and make some of the biggest clubs in the continent take note of his ability despite his tender age.
According to reports from The Metro, with his market value understood to be in the region of £2o million, there is talk of Liverpool intensifying their interest in the Austrian international following the conclusion of the Euros and make him their second signing this summer from the Bundesliga after Ibrahima Konate.
For the player, the rumours have come as a shot in the arm said, said the Hoffenheim man, who added that the media does go around its business linking players with a move elsewhere as his focuses remained solely on the Euros whilst playing for his country.
‘In this tournament there is not much time to think about rumours like that.’
‘In my career I have already learned that the press will always link you to other clubs.
‘I don’t want to deny that I like hearing some of that but at the moment that’s not a topic at all for me and I am fully focused on the tournament.’
‘It’s part of the job to deal with those kind of rumours, I already have experience with that.
