Florian Neuhaus is set to be retained by Borussia Monchengladbach beyond this summer’s transfer window despite Liverpool being understood to be keen on signing the midfield talent.
Monchengladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl in his press conference has put rest to speculation that Neuhaus could be on his way out of the club to seal a move elsewhere with Liverpool in the fray for the player as Eberl revealed that no bids had been received for signing Neuhaus this summer.
“We didn’t receive any offers for Florian Neuhaus over the summer.”
“He will continue to play for us this season.”
With Liverpool on the hunt for midfield reinforcements this summer following Gini Wijnaldum’s exit, the 24-year-old Germany international Neuhaus had emerged as a top target for Jurgen Klopp.
The Monchengladbach first-team regular had been an influential performer for his club last season in the Bundesliga and talk of Liverpool and Bayern Munich going head-to-head for the player’s signature had gained ground in recent times.
Liverpool’s links with the midfielder have died down as of late with the Merseyside giants now understood to be keeping tabs on the likes of Saul Niguez and Renato Sanches before the transfer window’s deadline later this month.
