Liverpool target Gavi rejects new contract offer at FC Barcelona

Liverpool target Gavi has reportedly turned down a new contract offer at FC Barcelona in a major boost to Jurgen Klopp’s transfer plans for the coming summer.

The young midfield talent has been linked with a move to Anfield as Klopp remains on the hunt for reinforcements in the centre of the park following Gini Wijnaldum’s departure last year.

Gavi, on the back of him earning rave reviews for his displays for both club and country, has rejected the latest offer of a new contract from the Camp Nou outfit, according to a report from the Spanish news outlet Marca.

He considers the new terms put forward by the Barca camp to be insufficient and along with central defender Ronald Araujo, another player who has emerged on Liverpool’s radar in the past, have both held out for a major hike in wages.

Barca’s recent activity in the transfer market has them nearing the completion of deals for Chelsea contract rebel Andreas Christensen and AC Milan maestro Franck Kessie which has made things difficult on the contract front for Gavi.
