Liverpool target Issa Diop given nod by West Ham to leave on loan this January

Liverpool FC could look towards sealing a move for West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop in light of recent reports from Football Insider revealing that the London-based club have allowed the defender to leave on loan this month.

Diop has massively struggled for game-time since the turn of the top-flight campaign and the Frenchman is understood to be wanting to head out of the London Stadium in search for some much-needed first-team involvement.

Diop’s exit on a half-season-long loan could be sanctioned by David Moyes’ West Ham United should the clubs interested in signing the defender be ready to cover his wages in full in addition to the loan fee.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been left bereft of senior options to fill in at the heart of the backline since the first-choice centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were confirmed sidelined with season-ending injury layoffs and Diop’s situation might lure the Liverpool FC boss to make a move for the Hammers man.

A constant run-in with injury niggles for Joel Matip does not present Klopp with the most secure of options to draft in his first-team plans and the slotting in of Jordan Henderson at centre-back gives a clear indication of the situation turning dire for the Premier League holders.
