Liverpool FC’s summer target Ben White is all set to extend his current deal at Brighton, ending months of speculation regarding a potential approach for the English center-back by the Premier League champions.
A great run of form shown by White last season in the Championship during his season-loan spell seemed to have convinced Brighton boss Graham Potter to extend improved terms to the center-back ahead of next season to fend off interest from other clubs in the player.
The 22-year old defender has emerged as a shortlisted option for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield following the exit of Dejan Lovren earlier this summer. The Croatian international’s departure left a void in the Reds’ first-team squad to be filled by the addition of a quality center-back option.
White was identified by the Liverpool FC management as a complete defender to add to the Merseyside giants’ already incredible squad depth. The player had been a fantastic performer while on loan at Leeds United last season, helping the club achieve promotion to the Premier League through his showings at the back.
The Reds had not been the only top-flight club to have registered interest in making the move for the former Brighton loanee. Manchester United and Chelsea too had been reported to be in the fray to sign White, however, all three Premier League giants were extremely put off by Brighton’s asking price of £30 million
