Liverpool will miss striker Divock Origi for the forthcoming Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester City on Wednesday night at Anfield.
The Belgium international has been a recent concern on the injury front for the Merseysiders with Origi sidelined since netting a memorable winner against AC Milan in the final group game of the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp’s No.2 Pepijn Lijnders confirmed in his pre-match remarks that Origi will not be in the fray to return to the squad in time for the midweek outing on home turf.
“He is still not training with the team so we will miss him.”
Origi’s future at the club beyond the next summer continues to be subject to much speculation with interest arriving in the forward’s signature from the likes of West Ham United, AC Milan and Atalanta keeping close tabs.
Klopp has used the 26-year-old as a rotation player so far this campaign but Origi’s recent super-sub showings have made his stock increase at Anfield despite only six months remaining on his current terms with the Reds.
