Liverpool have reportedly decided against making a move for Denis Zakaria in January with Jurgen Klopp keen to rely on his current roster in the heart of the midfield.
The Swiss international Zakaria has long been linked with a move to England’s top flight with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United credited with a strong interest in the player’s signature.
With his stay at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach set to come to an end in the summer, there had been the speculation that Klopp could be lured into fast-tracking his plans to sign Zakaria in the ongoing January transfer window.
According to reports from The Liverpool Echo, however, it is claimed that with Thiago Alcantara and the teenage talent Harvey Elliott nearing their returns from injuries to bolster the midfield ranks, signing Zakaria is no longer a priority for the Anfield camp.
The return of Curtis Jones has also provided Klopp with another option to make the XI in the midfield role with the England U21 international impressing with his stellar run of form for the injury-hit Merseysiders.
