Liverpool to end interest in signing Schalke’s Ozan Kabak?

Reports from the Liverpool Echo suggest that a deal Ozan Kabak is not currently a priority for Liverpool FC heading into the winter transfer window, which is set to open on January 1.

Previous speculation had indicated that the Reds were looking to open talks with FC Schalke over a deal for the 20-year old centre-back in the wake of Virgil van Dijk’s long-term ACL injury leaving Jurgen Klopp with sparse depth in the defensive core of the first-team squad.

However, for now, the Liverpool FC boss has drafted Fabinho in the role of a centre-back to great success, and Klopp could be tempted to continue with his arrangement until Van Dijk stages a return to the pitch.

The rumour-mongering behind Kabak’s potential switch to Anfield is reportedly the result of an agent wanting to ensure his client gets the best possible move out of Germany, as well as Schalke being subject to financial problems of late.

Moreover, with both clubs being at opposite ends over the proposed transfer fee involving Kabak’s signature, Liverpool FC could be encouraged to pursue other names on their shortlist to fill in for Van Dijk, namely Brighton star defender Ben White.
