Liverpool FC are considering offloading Divock Origi in a cash plus player deal for the highly-rated Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak, reports from The Telegraph suggest.
Origi’s first-team involvement at Anfield has diminished since last season, and having clocked just seven minutes of Premier League action for the ongoing campaign, Jurgen Klopp will not stand in the way of the Belgian international should he want to leave the club.
Despite recently being linked with a move to fellow top-flight side Wolves, rumours indicate that the 25-year-old Origi could be sent to Schalke as an additional incentive for the Bundesliga outfit to accept Liverpool FC’s long-term approach for Kabak.
The 20-year-old Turkish defender has emerged on the Merseysiders’ transfer radar ever since season-ending layoffs for both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez left Jurgen Klopp with extremely limited options to field in the heart of the defence.
Klopp’s business in the upcoming transfer window could be narrowed down to the Kabak deal, as the Champions of England remain short on centre-back options in the Anfield ranks, combined with Origi’s growing frustration at being relegated to a fringe role in the Reds first-team squad.
