Reds skipper Jordan Henderson’s Anfield future hangs in the balance amid the recent talk of the club yet to reward their captain and midfield general with a new deal.
Henderson’s contract on Merseyside runs for another two summers and with speculation claiming that Liverpool were not prioritising an extension for the 31-year-old, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal have been linked with making a move for the Liverpool man this summer.
Reports from The Express, however, claim that Jurgen Klopp’s side are highly unlikely to part ways with the England international ahead of the start of the new season and Henderson is backed to stay put at Anfield beyond the ongoing transfer window.
The midfield man is understood to harbour the desire of hanging up his boots while in the Liverpool shirt and that could play a major role in Liverpool reaching out to Henderson’s representatives over greater clarity surrounding his future on Merseyside.
With the long-serving midfield anchor Gini Wijnaldum already calling it quits at the club this summer to sign for PSG, Klopp is believed to be reluctant on his skipper Henderson following a similar path before the new campaign gets underway.
