Liverpool have reportedly touched base with FC Barcelona and France international winger Ousmane Dembele’s representatives with the Reds keeping tabs on the player.
The Frenchman will be out of contract in the summer of 2022 when his deal expires at Camp Nou and Liverpool are rumoured to be involved in the widely-contested race to land his signature on a free transfer.
Dembele has had recurring injury troubles in recent years but at 24 years of age, he remains a talent to watch out for and Jurgen Klopp’s urgency to add to his attacking options means that the FC Barcelona star will be on the radar at Anfield.
Reports from Spanish news outlet Todo Fichajes claim that the Liverpool camp have reached out to the winger’s representatives with talks suggested to be underway over a possible move to England’s top flight for Dembele next summer.
New FC Barcelona boss Xavi, however, is keen on Dembele signing extended terms beyond the end of the current season with Xavi expected to prioritise a new contract for the former Borussia Dortmund forward.
