According to recent reports, Liverpool FC are using Sadio Mane’s close relationship with Napoli ace Kalidou Koulibaly to their advantage by hoping that Mane is able to convince the latter to snub a move to Manchester City this summer.
The Napoli centre-back has emerged as a top target for Pep Guardiola’s outfit as the Blues of Manchester hope to bounce back to the title-winning way this season after finishing as runners-up to the Reds across the 2019-20 Premier League season.
Defensive issues were a major headache for Guardiola last time around as the aged pair of Fernandinhnio and Otamendi could do little to justify their spot in the starting XI as first-choice centre-back options in the absence of Ayermic Laporte due to a long-term injury.
As a result, Nathan Ake arrived at the Etihad Stadium this July in a £41 million worth move from AFC Bournemouth and Koulibaly, Sadio Mane’s Senegal teammate, is the second defender being eyed by Manchester City before the transfer window closes early next month.
However, it is rumoured that Liverpool FC also remains in contention to make a move for the Napoli star-man despite the Serie A side being very cautious on their pricing demands. Napoli are understood to be wanting to be paid a fee in the region of £70 million to part ways with Koulibaly.
