Liverpool Victorious In FIFA Club World Cup

Premier League giants Liverpool secured their second trophy of the 2019-20 season on Saturday, lifting the Club World Cup in Qatar after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brazilian outfit Flamengo.

It was a long-awaited first triumph in the competition that Liverpool never tasted success despite their illustrious history, as Jurgen Klopp managed to achieve what club pantheons Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, and Rafael Benitez found a step too far during their respective tenures on Anfield

Having netted a dramatic late winner in the semi-final against Mexican side Monterrey, Roberto Firmino was once again on target for the Reds on Saturday scoring the only goal of the game. The Brazilian forward crushed the hopes of his compatriots in the first period of extra time, finishing cleverly after receiving Senegalese forward Sadio Mane’s pass.

Although Flamengo had chances of their own to get back into the game, another Brazilian in the form of Alisson Becker was in sublime form to deny the South American team to let any shots past him.

Winning the FIFA Club World Cup Liverpool will receive another £4m for their success and although the tournament is waved off by most of the fans in the UK, Liverpool fans will be glad to add another trophy to their cabinet.
