Liverpool vs Arsenal Preview- A second win on the trot for the Reds? | EFL Cup 20-21

After handing a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Monday evening at Anfield in a Premier League clash, Liverpool FC get set to play hosts to the Gunners once, only this time the occasion being the fourth-round fixture of the EFL Cup.

Despite early moments of defensive frailties against Arsenal earlier this week, Liverpool FC held on to a strong comeback showing to stage a convincing win over the Gunners and would be hoping to replicate a similar kind of performance against the North London outfit on Thursday.

A fourth-round fixture date with Arsenal was booked last week as a result of the Reds gave out a rambling 7-2 defeat to Lincoln City away from home, largely inspired by fantastic displays from the fringe players at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, namely Takumi Minamino and Curtis Jones.

The visitors, however, will also be on the lookout to bounce back from their horrid overall performance at Anfield, with Alexandre Lacazette being regarded one of the worst players on the pitch on Monday and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also looking highly out of sorts when up against Trent Alexander Arnold.

TEAM NEWS

Liverpool FC will again be forced to take the pitch in the absence of new summer signing Thiago Alcantara. The Spaniard has tested positive for COVID-19 and is tipped to be sidelined for up to two weeks.

Diogo Jota could be in line to make his first start for the Reds since his arrival at Anfield from Wolves, and the 23-year old is certainly in fine form after scoring his debut goal for Jurgen Klopp’s side on Monday.

Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip, and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain are all long-term absentees for Liverpool FC and are certain to miss the upcoming EFL Cup tie against the Gunners.
