Liverpool are back to winning ways are now in the third place in the Premier League table despite the injuries in the Reds squad. The Reds were in the market for a centre-back on the last day of the transfer window. The likes of Ben Davies and Kabak have signed for Liverpool and it will obviously be a boost to the entire squad as it lacks established centre-backs.
Irrespective of what happens in the transfer market, Klopp will look to keep winning on the pitch in the Premier League at least. The injury list keeps on getting longer for Liverpool but the teams keeps on grinding out results as they did against a good West Ham side. With some good performances from the fringe players, it will be interesting to see how Klopp lineups Liverpool when they face in-form Brighton in the Premier League.
Let us now have a look at how Jurgen Klopp might set his Liverpool side against Brighton and Hove Albion side.
THE 4-3-3
The 4-3-3 is the best formation and system that has been employed by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool since his arrival in the Premier League. The centre-back pairing for Liverpool will again be Jurgen Klopp’s most difficult decision to make, with almost every centre-back injured. Henderson and Phillips have done well as a pair and are likely to be trusted again at the heart of the Reds defence.
Thiago Alcantara finally looks to get going in the Reds shirt and is now dictating play in the Premier League. Curtis Jones changed the game in Liverpool’s favour against Tottenham and will be expected to start against Brighton and Hove Albion. He brought the drive and impetus into the midfield which saw Liverpool turn a gear up in the attack and score goals.
Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino look to be back at their best as both the players player wonderfully against Tottenham. Salah, especially scored a brace and was at times at his unplayable best and compensated for the absence of Sadio Mane. His form will be key for Liverpool if they have to successfully defend their Premier League title this season.
THE 4-2-3-1
The 4-2-3-1 is also a formidable option for Jurgen Klopp to be used against Brighton and Hove Albion who like to dominate the ball. Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also increasingly looking like their former selves, putting accurate balls into the box and creating chances. Both the full-backs are Liverpool’s chance creators and their energy up and down the flanks has been a trademark in the Klopp era at Liverpool.
The double-pivot in the midfield will mean that Liverpool have enough cover for the centre-backs who can be vulnerable at times. This also allows the front-four to express themselves up the pitch without worrying much about the defence or their defensive responsibilities. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might get a chance in the left flank with Sadio Mane absent due to injury with Shaqiri the likelier option on the right side.
Liverpool should win this game despite the form Brighton have and should be ready for Manchester City next.
