Liverpool vs Newcastle United Preview & Team News | Premier League 2020-21

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC outfit have to all to play for when they welcome Newcastle United to Anfield on Saturday in what is a must-win game for the Champions League hopefuls.

The Reds dropped valuable points last time around in top-flight action on their travels to Yorkshire when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United who snatched a late equalizing goal to salvage a point.

Klopp would be counting on his players to put out an impressive showing at home to the Magpies who delivered a shock result in their recent outing against West Ham United with David Moyes’ top-four chasers being handed a 3-2 defeat.

With Liverpool FC occupying the seventh spot in the Premier League table, the Merseysiders are backed to up their game in what remains of the campaign and with only a three-point margin separating the Reds and fourth-placed Chelsea, a win over Newcastle would bring some much-needed comfort at Anfield.

TEAM NEWS

Nat Phillips’s fitness levels would be subject to much evaluation leading up to the Anfield showdown as the centre-back was absent for the Leeds United clash owing to minor hamstring trouble.

Should Phillips not make the cut for Saturday’s fixture Jurgen Klopp would be forced to turn to Fabinho for his makeshift role in the heart of the Reds backline alongside Ozan Kabak.

Mohammad Salah would be sure to grab a starting role after being benched shockingly for the Elland Road stalemate last weekend.
