Liverpool vs Burnley – Liverpool Predicted Lineups | EPL 2020-21

The Reds of Liverpool have lost their way a little bit as they have failed to score goals and win games in the last month. Jurgen Klopp will be under pressure as Liverpool need to win against Burnley to stay in the title race this season. After a painstaking performance against Manchester United earlier this week, Liverpool will look to make it count against Burnley.

The centre-back issues of Liverpool don’t seem to be ending as Henderson and Fabinho played at the heart of the defence in their last game. Injuries have halted Liverpool’s progress and it is evident that certain players look fatigued. With an FA Cup knockout game lurking against Manchester United it will be interesting to see how Klopp sets his side against Burnley.

Now we take a look at how Jurgen Klopp might set his Liverpool side in the Premier League against the strong and resilient Burnley.

THE 4-3-3

Jurgen Klopp may take this game as a chance to rest his normal front three of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Bobby Firmino. This front three looks down and out and seems to have hit their ceiling as Liverpool are already missing Diogo Jota, who is out with injury. Minamino and Shaqiri are likely to get a chance on the flanks as they have done well when given a chance.

The midfield might also be changed a bit as Thiago and Henderson might be given a rest after a tough game against United. James Milner is the favourite to play as the defensive midfielder in such a system as he is Mr. reliable for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.  Curtis Jones is expected to start at Anfield as he was rested for quite a while against Manchester United in the Reds’ last game.

It will be difficult for Liverpool surely as Burnley will make life difficult for them with a strong defensive shape. Thus, the Reds will need to be at their creative best to get all three points even if the game is at Anfield. Fabinho and Williams will have to be alert at set-piece situation as Burnley are a big side.

THE 4-2-3-1

This is the only other system that Klopp is likely to put out and this starting XI is very likely to be presented in the Burnley game. The 4-2-3-1 will give Liverpool a balance between attack and defence as they have struggled to score goals in the recent past. Anfield has been a fortress for the Reds but after three games without scoring, they will need the creativity of Thiago to be at its best.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t caught the eyes of the Liverpool fans since his arrival a couple of years ago and will look to make it count if he gets a chance. The English international might get a chance instead of Minamino in this system because of his brute pace and power which will be a key against a side like Burnley. Liverpool should win this game with ease, but looking at their recent form, it will be easier said than done.
