Liverpool vs Everton: Preview and Predicted Lineup | Premier League 2019/20

The Reds will face their arch-rivals Everton FC in their first Premier League game since 7th March. The game is scheduled to held at Goodison Park, the home venue for the Toffees.

The 265th Merseyside Derby to be contested on Sunday would be extremely crucial for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Reds have been rampant this season in the Premier League and are bound to claim their first league title in 30 years. Liverpool FC have a cushion of 22 points over second-placed Manchester City FC in the league table.

Sunday’s match would be the first for either side since the Premier League season restarted on 17th June. Both the teams have organized intra-squad friendlies in order to assess match fitness of their key players.

A win against Everton FC would mean that the Reds would require just one win out of their remaining eight games in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp would be hoping that his terrific side could do the needful on Sunday and take a big step towards lifting the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Everton FC, who struggled in the initial period of the season, have bounced back since the hiring of Carlo Ancelotti. The Toffees are currently 12th in the Premier League table. However, they would be hoping to spoil their arch-rival’s party by claiming a shock win over them on Sunday.

TEAM NEWS

The Reds were initially sweating over the fitness of the key duo of Mohammad Salah and Andy Robertson. However, both the players took part in the recent intra-squad friendly held at Anfield. Salah and Robertson should be available for selection and are tipped to take the field on Sunday.

However, Jurgen Klopp won’t be able to count upon his trusted super-sub Xherdan Shaqiri as the Swiss international is nursing a muscle injury. Shaqiri did not take part in any of the friendly games played by Liverpool FC in recent weeks.

Moreover, Nathaniel Clyne, who is set to depart Anfield at the end of the month, won’t be a part of the squad on Sunday. It seems that the former Southampton FC player is still suffering from an injury.

On the Everton FC front, Theo Walcott will miss the fixture. Also, Columbian defender Yerry Mina is sidelined due to injury troubles.

The fitness of Portuguese international Andre Gomes and former Manchester City FC player Fabian Delph will be subject to assessment.
