Liverpool will be looking to make it a five-game winning run in the Premier League as they play hosts to Fulham at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds edged out top four challengers Tottenham Hotspur in a 4-3 thriller on Sunday with Diogo Jota coming off the bench to score late on in stoppage time and clinch the win for his side.
Sunday’s Anfield contest saw Liverpool surge into a three-goal within the first 15 minutes but Spurs produced a valiant comeback to make it 3-3 before Lucas Moura’s misjudged pass allowed Jota to slot the ball into the back of the net.
The Reds will be hopeful that a continuation of their winning ways would help them in pursuit of a top four finish this season despite Manchester United sitting seven points adrift of them with a game in hand over their arch rivals.
Newcastle and Manchester United have been upbeat in their recent showings which has sounded out that Liverpool face an uphill task in securing Champions League football next season but Klopp’s men have five games remaining and 15 points up for grabs.
Fulham, meanwhile, were defeated 2-1 by title challengers Manchester City last time out with City scoring through Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez after the Cottagers had drawn level with Carlos Vinicius’s strike.
Seven defeats in their last nine contests across all tournaments paints a grim picture of Marco Silva’s men who have had their European dreams collapse as they sit 10th in the league table.

TEAM NEWS
Sunday’s match winners for Liverpool – Diogo Jota – will be assessed ahead of midweek’s Anfield showdown with the Portuguese forward’s back issue making him an injury concern.
Midfielder Thiago Alcantara was a notable absentee on Sunday and recent reports have indicated that the Spaniard could be sidelined for the remainder of the season with a hip injury.
Luis Diaz scored on his return to the first XI over the weekend but Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to consider the winger for two starts in such quick succession which could open the door for Darwin Nunez’s recall.
Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita’s muscular injuries are expected to rule out the duo from Wednesday’s game against Fulham.
KEY BATTLE
Darwin Nunez vs Carlos Vinicius
Nunez will be in line to earn a recall to the team sheet for Liverpool after the club-record signing has settled for a place on the bench in recent weeks.
The former Benfica dangerman would be hoping to make an impact with the competition for the attacking places in the Liverpool camp intense as ever following Diogo Jota’s return to his best and Luis Diaz coming back from a lengthy injury layoff.
Fulham striker Carlos Vinicius had given his side some hope in the game against City before the Premier League holders turned the game back in their favour and the ex-Tottenham forward could prove to be a difference maker for his side at Anfield.
MATCH PREDICTION
Liverpool’s inspired run of form as of late makes them the strong favourites to clinch the win on home soil against an under-performing Fulham side.
