Liverpool play hosts to Leicester City at Anfield in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup in a midweek outing for both teams on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will be set to play their fourth game across all competitions in 10 days amidst the COVID-19 crisis playing spoilsport to the squad selection plans for the Liverpool manager.
Thiago Alcantara registered a suspective positive test ahead of Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur which finished in a 2-2 draw for the Merseysiders who had to play the dying stages a man short following Andy Robertson’s red card.
The Reds, however, will be expected to return to winning ways when they welcome former boss Brendan Rodgers to Anfield and take on a Leicester outfit that has been on a 10-day-long COVID induced break.

Thiago Alcantara’s absence in the build-up to the weekend clash away at Spurs was not the only worry for Jurgen Klopp with his midfield general and skipper Jordan Henderson also sidelined.
Henderson’s illness ahead of the game prevented him from making the squad as Klopp fielded the 19-year-old Tyler Morton in the starting role.
Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones remain COVID-19 concerns for the home side.
PREDICTION
It could prove to be a tough challenge on home turf for a depleted Liverpool side but expect Klopp’s men to emerge on top and secure the semi-final berth.
