Liverpool Vs Sheffield United: Liverpool Player Ratings

Adrian 7

Held an early shot from McBurnie in the game. Managed to get away with missing a corner in the second half, and turned behind a Norwood shot. Booked for timewasting.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6

Wobbled slightly a bit first half and much of his distribution was strangely wayward. Improved gradually in the second half, particularly when it came to defending.

Joel Matip 7

A couple of bad passes aside was strong up against McBurnie before for majority of the game. Helped nullify the threats the home side was causing with the help of their supporters.

Virgil van Dijk 9

Won header after header that was lumped towards the forwards and spent the remainder of the first half encouraging his team-mates. An absolute monster, but calm on the ball.

Andy Robertson 5

Made a match-saving block after his error put the defense in trouble but struggled with his regular touch. Marginal improvement in the final third, but tough going for the Scotsman.

Fabinho 7

Provided welcome help in the air the the backline with his presence at times, and nipped in with the odd good tackle. Passing attempted to get Reds going but was not upto his mark.

Jordan Henderson 6

Looked to move Liverpool forward but not wasn’t able to conjure much as he did not have a lot of movement ahead of him. Tidy enough but hampered by an injury shortly after the break and was subbed off for Origi.

Gini Wijnaldum 6

Caught out on several occasions in midfield and didn’t do anywhere near enough to help the defense out. The Dutchman’s afternoon summed up with one simple pass put straight out of play but got the lucky goal which mattered.

Mohamed Salah 5

Flashed a snapshot wide of the post but not much joy in the first half despite forcing some errors in Sheffield’s defense. Totally off the pace after the break, and missed quite a simple chance when clean through on goal.

Roberto Firmino 5

Difficult to remember him being so rarely involved with the link up play in the opening 45 minutes. Bit more going on the second half but wasn’t his usual nifty self.

Sadio Mane 5

Desperate to get in behind first half, and when he did the Senegalese attacker fluffed his lines on two ocassions.

Divock Origi 7

Made a huge difference to the attack and fashioned a few chances immediately after being introduced.
