Wonderkid Harvey Elliot has stated that his aim for the upcoming season remains to get as many minutes on the pitch possible for the Liverpool FC first-team squad, on the back of his brilliant run of form in the Premier League champions’ pre-season preparations.
The 17-year old scored his first goal for the club’s senior squad in the 7-2 thrashing of Blackpool over the last weekend. Elliot was a fantastic performer in the game played at Anfield, with the English forward also providing an assist to go along with his solo strike for the Reds.
He is seen as a world-class prospect by Jurgen Klopp and others in Liverpool FC’s backroom staff judging by the youngster’s showings at the youth level for the Anfield giants. And Elliot voiced his commitment towards paying off the trust of his coaches by ensuring his recent streak of great displays continue heading into the 2020-21 league campaign.
“I see my main goal is to get in the team, get a few appearances here and there,” said the England U18 international.
“As you can see, it’s a very hard team to get into, there’s a lot of world-class players here.
“But even just the experiences around, training with these guys every day and being around the coaching staff every day, it’s just a dream come true.
“So, any opportunity I get, I’m very grateful for. Hopefully I can prove to the gaffer that I can live up to the standards.”
It would not be an easy task for Elliot to displace the likes of Mohammad Salah, Sadio Mane, or Xherdan Shaqiri in Klopp’s side, but the starlet can certainly hope of making the most of the opportunities that fall his path in the upcoming season.
