Liverpool FC’s third-round FA Cup fixture against Dean Smith’s Aston Villa could be set to be rescheduled following reports of an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Midlands-based outfit.
Jurgen Klopp’s men had been due to face Villa in the cup tie on Friday night at Villa Park, but the Daily Mail’s latest reports claim that a number of the Aston Villa employees, both backroom staff and first-team squad members, had tested positive for the pandemic virus.
With Villa boss Dean Smith’s pre-game conference also being subject to delay, it is speculated that the Merseyside Reds’ trip to Villa Park is set to be postponed for a later date in accordance with the fixture list of the Premier League.
It appears highly likely that @AVFCOfficial’s with cup tie with @LFC will be called off after a Covid outbreak in the Villa camp. I fear football might succumb in the next few weeks. 🤦🏻♂️

Ex-England international and now a leading pundit in the football fraternity across the country, Gary Linekar, also took to Twitter regarding the outbreak of COVID-19 at the Villa Park outfit, with Linekar claiming that it was now highly likely for Friday’s FA Cup encounter to be halted for the time being.
In the event of the postponement of the upcoming fixture for Jurgen Klopp’s side, the Reds will next step out on the pitch, if current events stay the same as it is, on 17th January to face off against arch-rivals and title-challengers Manchester United.
