Liverpool have started with 4 wins out of 4 in the Premier League. Just the start they would have wanted to finally push for the Premier League. So far, Liverpool have beaten a shambolic West Ham side, an inspired Crystal Palace, a re-surging BHA side and a decent Leicester squad.
Liverpool failed at the final hurdle in the Champions League and finished 4th in the Premier League last season. They would be eyeing for a top 2 finish and a big run in the Champions League. The Reds are yet to face a big side who would really challenge them. However, things won’t be this easy going.
Liverpool have a daunting schedule ahead of them after the international break which also marks the beginning of the UEFA League of Nations. In their next 4 Premier League fixtures, Liverpool face Tottenham, Southampton, Chelsea and Man City. Between these fixtures, they’ll face PSG at home and Napoli away (Champions League). To add to this, they’ve also drawn Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
Liverpool will face Tottenham just after this break. They might rotate heavily for this fixture as they’ll need their big names to shine when they face PSG at Anfield the following Wednesday. The would want all 3 points from this important clash at home. PSG are the most competent squad in Group C and Jurgen Klopp would want to make a statement at home.
Failing to get a desirable result against PSG will add to Klopp’s stress as the Napoli fixture would become very crucial for them to win. The game against Napoli lies between an away day at Stamford Bridge and a home fixture against Man City.
Dropped points against PSG will demand the maximum out of the Reds later on. The importance of the Napoli game would increase significantly and Klopp may look to rest his stars against Chelsea. This might result in dropping key points against the big 6.
The test is tough and it’ll be interesting as to how Liverpool deal with it.
