Disgraced Liverpool FC goalie Loris Karius is edging closer to completing a loan move to Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin, according to reports.
The German shot-stopper is expected to pen to paper on a season-long loan move to his homeland and sign for the newly promoted top-flight outfit. Karius’ departure from Anfield would mean that Adrian would serve as the primary backup option to Alisson for the Reds this season.
The ex-West Ham United No.1 was started between the sticks for Liverpool FC’s 7-2 humbling of Lincoln City in this week’s EFL Cup clash. Adrian is expected to feature in many more of the domestic cup fixtures, including the Merseyside outfit’s fourth-round date with Arsenal next week.
Karius had recently returned to Liverpool FC following the conclusion of his two-year loan stint at Turkish giants Besiktas. However, the 27-year old had failed to make the most of his first-team involvement away from Anfield due to a long-lasting contractual dispute with the club.
Despite the German voicing his desire to challenge for the first-choice role in Klopp’s side for the 2020-21 season, it seems as if the Liverpool FC boss has made his decision to offload Karius to Germany, with the goalkeeper’s current deal with the Reds running for just two more years.
