Liverpool FC starlet Neco Williams bagged his first goal for the Welsh national team in emphatic fashion, with the right-back heading his strike into the back of the net in the 94th minute of the game to give his side a well-deserved victory against Bulgaria.
Brought off the bench for only his second outing for the Dragons, the 19-year old full-back made an instant impact for Ryan Giggs’ side. Despite Wales being the much more dominant force on the pitch against their opponents, a Gareth Bale led attacking line was unable to break down the Bulgarian defensive core.
However, Williams made a huge statement to Giggs over his future selection as a regular in the Welsh national team’s playing XI with his late goal proving to be the deciding factor in the UEFA Nations League fixture.
A graduate of the famed Reds’ youth academy, the player is seen as a force to reckon with by the Merseyside club’s management. Williams broke into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad last season in the closing stages of the league campaign and displayed his talent with a decent run of form.
The 19-year old signed a five-year contract extension with Liverpool FC last month, extending his stay at his boyhood side until 2025.
