Liverpool FC are still entertaining offers for Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri this summer, despite the player having voiced his intention of proving his worth to the Anfield giants’ next season.
The 28-year old attacker was a very sporadic performer for the Reds across their 2019-20 Premier League title-winning campaign. Shaqiri featured just 11 times for Jurgen Klopp’s side across all competitions in his second year at the Merseyside club, which cast doubts over his long-term future in the Liverpool FC shirt.
The ongoing transfer window has seen Serie A clubs Lazio and Atalanta express interest in making a move for the player. However, both sides have not tabled any concrete bid to bring the ex-Stoke City man to Italy ahead of next season.
But sources close to Liverpool FC state that the club is open to parting ways with Shaqiri should any club interested in signing the player make a solid approach for him before the transfer window comes to a close on 4th October.
But in the event of the 28-year old being not seen as a prospective target by other sides this summer, Jurgen Klopp will be untroubled by the winger’s presence in his first-team squad next season as a backup to first-choice options Mohammad Salah and Sadio Mane.
