Lyon willing to listen to offers for Liverpool FC target

French side Lyon are willing to sell their player Houssem Aouar amidst interest from top European teams like Liverpool FC and Juventus.

The Reds have learnt that Lyon have put a price tag of £44.5million on the highly-rated French youngster.  Recent reports have indicated that Liverpool FC and Jurgen Klopp are very interested in signing the midfielder but are yet to make contact with Lyon over a deal for the 21-year old.

Aouar was initially valued at a much higher price than £44.5million by his current side. However, owing to the massive impact that ongoing pandemic has had on the football transfer market and player fees, Lyon is willing to accept a much lower offer. The Reds arch-rivals in the Premier League Manchester City FC were eyeing a move for the player last summer.

Pep Guardiola was very keen on signing Aouar with the Spanish coach wanting the 21-year old midfielder to be an ideal successor to the experienced Fernandinho in the Manchester City midfield. However, Lyon rejected offers from the Premier League club for Aouar and were successful in convincing the midfielder to stay at the French club for one more season.

Aouar has a great future ahead of him, and with the performances, he has shown so far for Lyon in the Ligue 1, his arrival in England would be great news for Premier League fans.  The player has just missed three of Lyon’s league matches this season and is reported to be looking to a club which can guarantee Champions League football for next season.

Aouar is a long-term target of Klopp, with the Reds’ manager wanting to sign the player for a long time. However, with the ongoing pandemic crisis, the Premier League club are very likely to curb their spending to the maximum amount in the upcoming transfer window. Liverpool FC have been priced out of a deal for Timo Werner as well with Klopp unwilling to pay amounts in the region of £50 million to sign players on his wishlist.
