Liverpool’s resolve to engage in an approach for Leicester City star midfielder Youri Tielemans is set to be tested by their arch-rivals Manchester United who are also keen on the Belgian midfielder.
Tielemans is expected to be seeking a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer on the back of his influential campaign last time around for Brendan Rodger’s side who finished the season as the winners of the FA Cup but narrowly missed out on a top-four finish.
With the midfielder believed to be demanding Champions League football, he has put his contract extension talks with the Foxes on hold as he gears up for the UEFA Euros with Roberto Martinez’s Belgium side.
Reports from Empire of the Kop claim that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old Tielemans and remain poised to give Liverpool a run for their money with Jurgen Klopp’s side searching for a midfield option in the transfer market.
Gini Wijnaldum’s departure has left the Reds without a significant face in the centre of the park which Klopp hopes to fill the void with a player of Tielemans’ calibre and promise.
