Manchester United’s opening bid for Cristian Romero to be challenged by Liverpool

Liverpool are poised to play spoilsport to Manchester United’s plans of landing Atalanta man Cristian Romero this summer with United’s offer for the defender expected to be challenged by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Reds, despite signing Ibrahima Konate earlier in the ongoing transfer window, are backed to add another fresh face to their defensive depth in time for the start of the new season in England.

Atalanta’s Romero has emerged as a probable target for the Merseysiders but the Argentine international is being eyed up by Manchester United as well who too remain on the hunt for a new central defender to bolster their defensive line.

Rudy Galetti has claimed that Manchester United’s opening offer worth €50 million will be challenged by the Anfield giants who will hope to improve upon the amount to lure Atalanta into rebuffing the interest shown in their star player from the Red Devils.

It remains to be seen whether there is a bidding war in line to happen between the two Premier League rival clubs with either side wanting to land the signature of the 23-year-old Romero who was a standout performer for his side in the Serie A last season.
