Liverpool FC midfielder Marko Grujic, whose last-minute move to Bundesliga side Wender Bremen fell through on deadline day, has instead signed for Liga Nos outfit FC Porto on a season-long loan deal, announced Liverpool on the club’s official website, Liverpoolfc.com.
The 24-year old Serbian international was largely expected to seek a loan spell elsewhere from Anfield this summer, similar to the previous two seasons, where Gurjic had spent at Hertha Berlin in the hopes of getting first-team involvement.
With his future in the Reds shirt looking bleak for the 2020-21 season, Jurgen Klopp had been bound to offload Grujic on a temporary basis, despite handing two consecutive starts to the midfielder in Liverpool FC’s EFL Cup ties, a 7-2 win against Lincoln City and a penalty shootout loss to Arsenal last week.
Grujic joins Porto in a loan agreement between the Portuguese side and Liverpool FC that will run the duration of the entire ongoing season. The Serbian will get plenty of game time while at Porto and also a golden chance to feature in the UEFA Champions League.
