Matheus Nunes is said to be ready to hold out in hopes of sealing a move to Liverpool with the Sporting Lisbon man keen to sign for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds with the aim of competing for trophies.
The Portugal international was rumoured to be one of the top names on the Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list despite the German coach being firm on his stance on fresh additions to his squad this summer.
Klopp, however, has been fretting over the increasing injury concerns in the Liverpool midfield ranks with their Premier League opener away at Fulham witnessing Thiago Alcantara forced off the pitch with a hamstring issue.
According to a report from the Portuguese publication Correia da Manha, Nunes is very interested in moving to Liverpool but a switch to Merseyside for now with Klopp saying he was happy with his current depth in midfield.
There has been speculation about the Liverpool manager keeping close tabs on the Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham heading into the summer of 2023 which is when Dortmund are open to the sale of their prized asset.
