Liverpool’s defensive midfielder Fabinho has admitted that his former AS Monaco teammate Kylian Mbappe would cause a massive selection headache for Jurgen Klopp if he arrived at Anfield.
Fabinho and Mbappe had played together during their time in Monaco after which they moved to Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain respectively following winning the Ligue 1 with the French outfit. Mbappe has since made 110 appearances for Paris Saint Germain at the Parc Des Princes and scored 81 goals in the French capital.
Liverpool currently sits at the summit of the Premier League table and are looking like they should win their first-ever domestic title in 30 years. The Reds are 16 points ahead of 2nd placed Manchester City with a game in hand.
However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will still look to add a few more areas to his squad in the January transfer window in order to maintain this impeccable form which is keeping them soaring high.
Reports have been linking French forward Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool if the European champions lose any of their front three any time soon and Fabinho was asked whether Mbappe’s arrival would boost the English giants.
However, the 26 year old Brazilian explained that the 20-year-old Mbappe could create a selection problem in Liverpool due to the brilliance of Salah, Mane, and Firmino, “At this moment it would be a headache for Liverpool if we had him here because our attacking trio is very good. But I know Mbappe’s quality, he’s already one of the best players in the world, so he would obviously improve any team. Right now he plays for Paris Saint-Germain and we have to respect that.”
