Liverpool legend Michael Owen has revealed that attackers Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino should avoid any interest shown from other top suitors in the European continent as the trio are stronger as a group than individuals.
Jurgen Klopp’s unit have combined together to form one of the most lethal front lines tridents in world football over the past few seasons.
Although there has been a number of big-money transfers over the course of the past two terms, at Anfield the investments have been repaid with stellar performances. Sadio Mane arrived from south coast club Southampton, Mohamed Salah was snapped up from Italian side AS Roma and Roberto Firmino was lured in from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
Between the Liverpool front three, Klopp’s Merseyside giants have managed to get back to winning ways and notching up top trophies at Anfield over the past year.
The attackers have laid the foundation for success in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup while Klopp’s side remains within touching distance of a 30 year-long wait for a Premier League title.
Due to the attacking trio performing at such a consistent and high level there has been reported interest from European giants Real Madrid and Barcelona as well and it is possible that Firmino, Salah or Mane might be tempted for a move to the LaLiga.
One former Liverpool star Michael Owen moved to Real Madrid himself in order to play for the Los Blancos but the 40-year-old former England striker has explained that the current Liverpool three should stick together as they might be unable to perform to such levels if they play by themselves. Owen spoke to BBC Radio Live and said “I just think this current three, a bit like the Liverpool team really, it just clicks. If you lifted individual players and put them into different teams within the Premier League would they be as good without each other? It is debatable and probably arguable that you would say no. This team just gels so well with each other and I think that the attacking players benefit so much from the full-backs that are really attacking players. The midfielders give a really solid foundation. I just think everything gels so well. To the eye, this three probably beat most attacking units over the years.”
The Premier League is tipped to return next month and Liverpool needs only six points to win the English top-flight title.
