The Reds have been urged by Michael Owen to stick with the under-fire Alisson Becker between the goalposts despite the Brazillian’s recent spell of a horror show for Jurgen Klopp’s misfiring outfit.
Alisson was culpable for gifting Manchester City two goals within just a few minutes during Liverpool FC’s 4-1 defeat to the runaway leaders and the former AS Roma goalie endured a rough patch of form at the King Power Stadium as well last Saturday.
He stepped way out of his box and collided with teammate Ozan Kabak as the duo battled to clear an aerial ball unsuccessfully, allowing Jamie Vardy to steer his side in the lead by scoring into an empty net.
In spite of the recent blunders displayed by the Liverpool FC No.1, Owen believes that Jurgen Klopp should back the Brazillian international to continue in his first-choice role and build up his confidence in the process.
‘He’s [Alisson] one of the most amazing goalkeepers in the world, stick by him, build his confidence back up,’ said the former Liverpool man, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
‘Tell him even through thick and thin you’re our No 1 because you’ll get paid back in spades in the future.’
Defeat to the Foxes on Saturday afternoon in the Midlands leaves the Merseysiders reeling in trouble after what was a third consecutive loss in top-flight action for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
