Michael Owen considers both Manchester United and Chelsea as Premier League title contenders for next season. The former Liverpool FC striker has stated that the Reds would have to fend off competition from Manchester United and Chelsea in the upcoming season.
Owen predicts that besides Manchester City, who were till now the only title-challengers to Liverpool FC, Chelsea and Manchester United have emerged as favorites for the Premier League crown. The Reds have been fantastic this season and have a 23-point gap over Manchester City in the Premier League table.
According to Owen, Chelsea have shown an intention to improve with their new signings. Frank Lampard has managed to secure the transfers of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner in recent months. Moreover, Chelsea are also hotly perusing the signings of Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz. Frank Lampard has spared no expense in rebuilding the Chelsea FC side he inherited a year ago.
If Chilwell and Havertz arrive at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea FC would become a formidable opponent in the Premier League. The current Blues squad has exceeded expectations this season after Frank Lampard’s hiring as their head coach. Chelsea FC are on course to finish in a top-four spot in the Premier League and secure Champions League football for next season.
Manchester United FC too have been on the verge of revival since the start of the year. The arrival of Bruno Fernandes has revitalized the entire Manchester United FC side. Moreover, the return of Paul Pogba from injury has eased the worries of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on replacing the Frenchman.
If Solskjaer is able to sign two or three quality players this summer, the Red Devils could become a worthy challenger to Liverpool FC’s Premier League crown. Jadon Sancho is subject to great interest from Manchester United FC in recent months. If the English international moves to Old Trafford, United would have an excellent attacking department at their disposal.
