Mo Salah To Commit to Liverpool for Another Year?

David Ornstein of the Athletic reveals that the Reds “completely expect” their Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah to stay with them until the summer of 2025.

Ornstein also pointed out that the 31-year old Egyptian has never shown any sign or desire to leave the club as his contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.

This summer represents the next and last chance for the club to sell one of their top scorers at a handsome price.

Klopp and Salah

Salah had drawn much attention of Al Ittihad during the previous summer transfer window. It was supposed that the club will be willing to sell Salah for £150 million.

Nevertheless, Liverpool decided to reinforce their resolve and keep Salah beyond the current agreement. On this occasion, the scenario is somewhat different which makes a transfer more likely although Ornstein is quoted as saying otherwise.

What is the current state of the contract situation of Salah at Liverpool?

The crux of the issue, however, is Salah is on his last year of his contract. While Liverpool has been allowing a considerable number of players to leave on free transfer deals, they are far more likely to receive a much higher fee for selling Salah than they would with any of the other players, probably about £50million+.

Moving into the new season, the hiring of Arne Slot as manager provides a golden period for Liverpool to look into making such a dramatic transformation.

As for Slot, he will have to go through the starts and stop of transitions. He will however not feel his counterpart’s legs placed on the quicksand as is the case of Jurgen Klopp last campaign.

There are recent factors that can be considered by Liverpool which include Salah’s dip in form as well as his fiery exchange with Klopp during West Ham’s match.

The challenge of handling a fading star sometimes falls on the manager, as in the case for Slot.

Nevertheless, the Liverpool chief executive of football Michael Edwards and the incoming sporting director Richard Hughes do not seem intent on moving things away from the current state now.

In consideration of this opinion that may change dependent on the opening of transfer window, it is to be seen that how the situation evolves and what fate awaits Salah in the coming transfer window.
