Mohamed Salah close to putting pen to paper on a new contract with Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is close to putting pen to paper on a new contract with Liverpool in a major development on the long drawn out impasse between the two parties.

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that the Egypt international has made a U-turn over his contract standoff at Anfield and would be penning extended terms sooner rather than later.

The 29-year-old Salah has been the leading performer for the second-placed Liverpool with 20 strikes to his name in top-flight action as Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders remain just a point adrift of the table-toppers Manchester City ahead of next week’s Etihad showdown.

Concerns had been heightened in the Anfield camp over Salah’s potential exit come the summer after the winger turned down a new deal with the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain alerted to his contract situation.

Salah, however, is likely to compromise on his demand of matching the bumper pay package of Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who pockets £500,000-a-week to stand as the highest earner in the Premier League.
