Mohamed Salah nabs Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Player of the Month award for December

Liverpool FC’s danger man Mohammad Salah was named the Standard Chartered Player of the Month award for December as the 28-year-old forward fended off tough competition from the Brazillian international pairing of Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, according to reports from the club’s official website.

Salah’s goalscoring record for Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside men last month was exemplary, with the ex-AS Roma man finding the back of the net six times in just eight outings.

The Egyptian international was in fine form up front alongside his strike partners Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, the former of whom was equally brilliant in his showings in the final third of the pitch.

Salah collects the honour in the backdrop of what has been a major downward spiral of results registered by the Reds in recent times, with Jurgen Klopp’s men unable to come out victorious in any of their last five top-flight games.

Goals have been hard to come by for the Premier League holders as well of late and Thursday night’s loss to Burnley meant that the Salah-led frontline had failed to record a single goal across the previous five outings in domestic league football.
